The short version
- If you're in danger right now, call your local emergency number. Crisis lines are listed below.
- Every character is an AI. No person is reading or writing your chats as you go.
- If you seem to be at risk, characters step out of the story, talk to you plainly and point you to real help.
- Nothing sexual, ever. That goes for words and pictures.
psychosis.gg is a place for stories, and stories can go to dark places. This page explains how it's set up to keep people safe when that happens, and what to do if something goes wrong.
If you need help now
If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call your local emergency number: 000 in Australia, 911 in the US and Canada, 999 or 112 in the UK and Ireland. If you're struggling or thinking about hurting yourself, you can talk to someone right now, for free:
- Australia: Lifeline 13 11 14, or Kids Helpline 1800 55 1800 (ages 5 to 25)
- US and Canada: call or text 988
- UK and Ireland: Samaritans 116 123
- Anywhere else: findahelpline.com lists free services by country
A character can keep you company, but they're no substitute for a person who can help.
Characters are AI
Every character on psychosis.gg is fictional, and every reply and picture is generated by AI. Below the message box in every chat, a line says so. If you sincerely ask a character whether they're a real person, they're instructed to tell you the truth. When characters talk about their feelings, memories or lives, that's part of the story.
When someone may be at risk
Every character follows the same instructions for this, whatever story you're in. If you seem to be in real danger, talk about wanting to hurt yourself or someone else, or describe abuse happening to you, the character is instructed to:
- step out of the story and talk to you plainly and warmly, as themselves;
- encourage you to reach out to someone you trust, and to a crisis line or emergency services, with numbers like the ones above;
- stay with you rather than ending the conversation, and skip the lecture.
Characters are also told never to encourage self-harm or give instructions for anything dangerous, in a story or out of one. AI can still get things wrong, so if a character ever does, please tell us (see below).
We don't watch conversations live, and nothing contacts anyone automatically. Conversations where someone seemed to be in crisis are never used to train models. The Privacy Policy explains the rare cases where we might share information to protect someone's life.
What characters won't do
psychosis.gg is safe for work. Romance and affection are fine, and so are dark themes in a story (danger, grief, conflict, mystery). Anything sexual or explicit isn't: if a story heads that way, the character declines or steers it somewhere else, in character. Pictures follow the same rules, with nothing sexual, nothing gory and no real people, and the AI models behind psychosis.gg have safety filters of their own. The full rules are in the Terms of Service.
Teens
psychosis.gg is for people aged 13 and over. Roleplay with AI characters may not be suitable for some minors, so if you're under 18 you need a parent or guardian's permission to use it. For anyone who tells us they're under 18:
- model training is off by default;
- the chat suggests taking a break every three hours (see below).
Parents and guardians can email privacy@psychosis.gg to ask about or delete their child's account.
Reminders and breaks
After every three hours of continuous chatting, a note appears in the conversation reminding you that the character is an AI, not a person. If you've told us you're under 18, it also suggests taking a break. It's counted on your device, and half an hour without a message starts the count again.
Reporting a problem
If a character says something harmful, or you see anything that breaks these rules, email support@psychosis.gg with the chat's link (or what happened, if you'd rather) and we'll look into it.
