Privacy Policy
Last updated 21 October 2026
The short version
- We collect what it takes to run your stories: how you sign in (Discord or your email address), your chats, and what characters remember about you.
- No ads, no trackers, and we never sell your data.
- Chats on free accounts can help train our own models, with personal details removed first. You can turn that off at any time.
- You can delete any chat, or your whole account, whenever you like.
This policy explains what psychosis.gg collects when you use it, why, who it's shared with, and the choices you have. It works alongside our Terms of Service.
Who we are
psychosis.gg runs this service and decides how your data is used (in legal terms, we're the "controller"). You can reach us about anything in this policy at privacy@psychosis.gg.
What we collect
- Your account, from Discord. When you sign in with Discord, Discord tells us your Discord user ID, username, display name and avatar. We don't ask Discord for your email address, your servers or your messages. Your account gets its own internal ID, and that's what the rest of our systems use. Your Discord avatar is your picture here: our servers fetch it from Discord (and keep it up to date each time you sign in), so your browser never contacts Discord.
- Your account, by email. If you sign in with your email address instead, we keep that address with your account and use it only to send you sign-in codes: no newsletters, no marketing. A code we send is stored only in scrambled form (a hash), and is gone once used. If you never finish signing in, we delete the address soon after the code expires.
- Your chats. Your messages and directions, the characters' replies, chat names, and the pictures generated in your chats. When you edit a message or reroll a reply, the earlier version stays with the chat, out of the story, and is deleted with it.
- What characters remember. Characters keep notes from your chats: facts you've mentioned, summaries of earlier parts of a story, and their own notes about you. These are generated from your chats and stored with them, along with the search data (embeddings) that helps characters recall them.
- Your time zone. Your browser sends your time zone with each message, so characters know what time it is for you. We don't collect your location.
- Usage data. For each AI request: when it happened, the character and model involved, how much text was processed, how long it took, what it cost, and any errors. This keeps the service running and affordable.
- Network data. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes your IP address and basic request details (such as your browser type) to deliver the site and protect it from attacks and abuse. We don't store IP addresses in our own databases.
- Messages you send us. If you email us, we keep the conversation so we can help.
How we use it
- To run psychosis.gg: generating replies and pictures, remembering things across your chats, and showing you your stories.
- To keep it safe: enforcing the Terms, preventing abuse, applying usage limits, and responding when someone may be at risk.
- To fix and improve it: debugging, and measuring quality, speed and cost.
- To train our own models, if your training setting is on (see below).
- To comply with the law and respond to valid legal requests.
If you're somewhere with data protection laws like the GDPR, our legal bases are: performing our contract with you (running the service), our legitimate interests (security, improving the service, and training our models, which you can object to by turning training off), legal obligations, and protecting someone's vital interests when their safety is at risk.
Model training
We're building our own roleplay models, and real stories are the best way to make them good. Here's exactly how your chats are involved:
- On free accounts, training is on by default, and you can turn it off at any time in Settings or by emailing privacy@psychosis.gg. Turning it off covers your past chats too, except anything already used in a training run.
- If you tell us you're under 18 when you sign up, training starts off, and stays off unless you turn it on.
- Before a chat is used, we remove personal details: names, contact details, addresses and anything else that could identify you or someone else.
- We never use chats you've deleted, chats from deleted accounts, or conversations where someone seemed to be in crisis or at risk.
- Training data is only used for our own models. We don't sell or license your chats to anyone.
- We record which version of this policy was in force when each message was sent, so your choices are applied exactly.
Where it lives
Cloudflare runs a global network, so your data may be stored and processed outside your country, including in the United States. AI providers may also process prompts in other countries. Where the law requires safeguards for these transfers (such as Standard Contractual Clauses), we rely on the ones our providers offer.
How long we keep it
- Your account and chats: until you delete them.
- Deleting a chat removes it from psychosis.gg straight away, along with its pictures and the memories that came from it. A character may already have folded something from it into their general notes about you; those notes are rewritten over time, and are erased completely when you delete your account.
- Our internal logs record each AI request and reply (with its usage data), for debugging and safety. They keep a copy of a deleted chat until you delete your account, marked so it's never used for training. If you want a deleted chat erased from the logs too, email us and we'll do it.
- Deleting your account erases your profile, chats, memories, pictures and logs within 30 days. Anything already used in a training run can't be removed from a trained model, but is never used again.
- Usage statistics for our dashboards (timings, amounts of text, costs) are kept for up to three months.
- Cloudflare's network and diagnostic logs are kept for a few days.
Security
Everything is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest. Your chats with each character are kept in their own isolated store, and access to data is limited to what's needed to run the service. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects you, we'll tell you as the law requires.
Your choices and rights
- Delete a chat from the character's page or the chat's menu.
- See what a character remembers about you, forget any single memory, or clear their notes, from that character's memory page.
- Turn training off in Settings, or by emailing privacy@psychosis.gg.
- Delete your account in Settings, or by emailing us.
- See, correct or get a copy of your data by emailing us.
Depending on where you live (for example the EU, the UK, California or Australia), you may also have the right to object to or restrict how we use your data, and to complain to your local data protection authority. We'll answer requests within 30 days, we may need to check the request really comes from your account, and we won't treat you differently for making one.
Children and teens
psychosis.gg isn't for children under 13. If we learn an account belongs to someone under 13, we'll delete it. People aged 13 to 17 need a parent or guardian's permission to use it, and training is off by default for anyone who tells us they're under 18. Parents and guardians can email privacy@psychosis.gg to ask about or delete their child's data.
When someone may be at risk
Characters are built to step out of the story when someone seems to be in danger, and to point them to crisis lines. We don't watch conversations live, and nothing contacts anyone automatically. In the rare case that we learn someone's life is at serious and immediate risk, we may share the minimum information needed with emergency services. Our Safety page describes exactly what characters do.
Changes
We'll post updates here and change the date at the top. If a change is significant (for example, a new use of your chats), we'll tell you on the site before it takes effect and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent.
